It is easy to get caught up in the rhythms and routines of life. The ‘things to do’ list gets longer every week, you have to juggle 37 things at once and there are always so many drains on your time. It often feels like to spend any time at all with your family, you have to schedule 3 weeks ahead. Not only that, but to get the most out of that time you do have together, you have to plan something spectacular. A big trip, something every one will learn from, a culturally stimulating event. Then we all get back, exhausted and worried about how we are going to fit everything in the next day.
Sometimes we forget to pause, to look around and to draw satisfaction from the simple things in life. We do not have to fill every waking moment with something ‘productive’, stimulating or educational. Sometimes, just being with our families, reconnecting with each other and having simple fun is the most valuable thing in the world.
With this in mind, I put together a Fall Family Fun bucket list. A simple list of things to do with the family. All are suitable for families of all ages and can be adapted to make them meaningful for you. Add to the list, take some things off of the list – your families enjoyment is what this is all about. It is not just another chore to work through and tick off. Each of those tick should induce a memory, something for each of you to treasure and hopefully to pass onto the next generation.
Come back and let me know if you used the list, or made one of your own. I would love to hear all about your family fall fun adventures!
