If you and your partner are thinking about what you can do for Valentines Day, why not go away somewhere special this year? With kids, this might seem like a pipe dream, but anything is possible. Ask around your family and friends to see if anyone is willing to take on your little monsters for a couple of days. It is even possible that a small group of you can get together and each of you take someones kids for a weekend. You might not get away over Valentines Day but delayed privacy is better than nothing at all and a late romantic weekend alone is still incredible. If this sounds like something you want to do, then you best get planning now.
The Money
Where you want to go and what you want to do will, of course, determine how much money you’ll need. You may want to go all out, and if this is the case, you will need to start saving now. The only issue with this is that you don’t have much time to do this – unless you already have a savings account into which you can tap.
If not, you may want to consider taking out a loan. You might be thinking that you won’t be entitled to one because you don’t have a great credit score, but in fact, all you need to do is have a fish around for the best personal loans for fair credit. They will cater to exactly what you need, and won’t take any liberties with the interest rates.
The Children
If you can, ask your parents if they’ll look after the kids for the weekend (if they don’t have any of their own plans of course) or another member of the family that on which you can rely. Whatever you do, don’t feel guilty about leaving your children for the weekend. Being a parent is a full-time job, and it’s hard sometimes, so you’re absolutely entitled to a break now and again, and Valentine’s Day is a better reason than any. You will get the opportunity to learn about each other again, and remember why you fell in love in the first place. Just don’t forget to write it down on your parent’s calendar, so they don’t end up double booking you.
If you don’t have any family handy, try the friend’s circle. If a group of you can sit down and agree that each of you will take one other persons kids for a weekend, you are set. Organising this can be complicated if you are all trying to call each other and sort it out, but there is an easy way.
Get everyone together at one house with some snacks, some wine, and everyone’s calendar. Randomly pick one person or couple to go first, and they choose their weekend. Another couple, who are free offer to take the kids that weekend and then they get to choose their dates. Repeat until everyone has selected time alone and has agreed to babysit for a weekend.
The Location
Now comes the exciting part – where do you want to go? You could plan somewhere lovely to visit abroad and go all out with hotels and excursions. Or you may prefer somewhere closer to home, or why not go on a road trip? You can travel around and stop at different points to sleep, grab food, and go on your adventures.
So have a sit-down and talk about where you both envision going. Remember that at the end of the day, as long as you are both together, it doesn’t matter where you go, where you stay, or what you do. You could even set up a tent in your backyard and camp out under the stars, with a little fire that you can roast marshmallows on to make s’mores. Pair that up with a bottle of wine, and you’re in for a magical night.
So get discussing your plans before it’s too late, and have a beautiful Valentines together.
