Bubblegum Bath Bombs Recipe
Supplies:
Supplies for these bath bombs were purchased from Amazon. I have included affiliate links to these supplies, for your convenience.
- 2 cups baking soda
- 1 cup citric acid
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons Chamomile Epsom salts
- 1/3 cup coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon polysorbate 80
- 1-2 teaspoons bubblegum scented oil
- 1-2 tablespoons of pink mica colorant
- 1-2 teaspoons of pink cosmetic glitter
- 1 tablespoon edible pink sugar pearls
- Stainless steel bath bomb molds (I get mine from Amazon)
- Spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol
- 1 large mixing bowl
Steps 1-5: In a large mixing bowl, add the baking soda, citric acid, Epsom salts, and cornstarch. Mix these dry ingredients thoroughly, until everything is evenly dispersed. Using a wire whisk is an ideal way to do this.
Step 6: Add the coconut oil to your dry ingredients mix. The coconut oil binds all the ingredients together, so your bath bombs don’t crumble when you touch them.
If this is your first time using coconut oil, don’t worry. If your room is above approximately 75F / 24C the coconut oil may become liquid. Below that temperature, it will be thick and creamy. If it is cold enough it can even become quite hard and lumpy. This is perfectly normal.
Step 7: Add the polysorbate 80. This helps the coconut oil disperse more evenly in your bathwater. This, in turn, makes the bath bombs bubbly and prevents the mica from sticking to the side of the tub.
Steps 8-9: Add the bubblegum scented oil and mix well. You may need to use your hands to break down any lumps and ensure everything is thoroughly mixed in. The mixture is perfect when you press it into your hands, it holds together, and feels like wet sand.
Steps 10-11: Mix in 1-2 tablespoon of the pink powdered mica colorant and pink glitter.
Steps 12-15: Sprinkle some of the edible pink sugar pearls into one side of the bath bomb molds. Add the mixture on top of the pearls, until the mixture is slightly overflowing. Fill the other side of the mold with the bath bombs mixture until it is slightly overflowing. Press the molds together and gently grind the two haves together to remove the excess mixture. Gently tap each side of the mold to release the bombs. Allow the bombs to dry for a minimum of 24 hours.
