If you are looking for a tasty and refreshing drink, without any additives or preservatives, then this may be just what you are looking for.
You can make a pitcher of the drink, or mix yourself a single glass but whatever way you do it, you’ll have trouble drinking just one glass.
It’s also a great accompaniment to my no-bake fruit cobbler.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 pound of wild blueberries; fresh or frozen
- 1 lime, cut in half
- 1 cup of sugar
- 1 cup of water
- Carbonated water or club soda
Supplies:
- Mesh sieve strainer
- One Tablespoon – Could actually be any size spoon because it is not used for measuring but for smooshing. I find a tablespoon works best for me but you may find otherwise.
- One small saucepan
Directions:
Add blueberries, water and sugar to a saucepan.
Cook over medium heat for about 30 minutes, stirring frequently.
Allow the fruit syrup to cool.
Pour the fruit syrup through a mesh sieve strainer, into a mason jar.
Smash the fruit with a spoon to release any juices remaining.
Squeeze the juice of one lime into the syrup.
Fill a glass with ice.
Add 2 ounces of wild blueberry lime juice to the glass.
Top with club soda or carbonated water from your soda machine.
Garnish with a few blueberries and a slice of lime if desired.
Makes 4 sodas.
Store any unused syrup in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
