When fall arrives, so too do many beautiful fall crafts, recipes, and activities. It can be easy to fall into the sweet candy trap and find yourself making all manner of diabetes-inducing, sugar-filled munchies. However, not all of us either want to or can, munch down on actual candy corn. If you fall into the sans sugar group, then perhaps you would like to indulge in some candy corn soap.
With our candy corn soap recipe you can enjoy all of the traditional white orange and yellow layers with out any of the sugars.
Supplies:
- *1.5-1 pound goats milk melt and pour soap cut into cubes
- **2 pounds clear glycerin melt and pour soap cut into cubes (each cube is approx. .8 ounce)
- 1.5-2 teaspoons candy corn scent
- 1 tablespoon Vitamin E oil
- Orange soap dye
- Yellow soap dye
- White holographic glitter
- ***Rectangle soap mold
- Spray bottle of rubbing alcohol
- 3 medium sized microwave safe bowls or measuring cups
*Add 15-20 cubes into one bowl or measuring cup
**Add 20 cubes into each of the remaining two bowls or measuring cups
***The inner silicone mold dimensions are (L x W x H):10″x3″x2.7″ and the outer wood box dimensions are (L x W x H):11″x3.5″x3.2″ and holds approx. 3 pounds of soap. It will make approx. 10, 4.2-ounce bars that are cut at approx. 1″ thickness each.
Instructions:
White Layer (Layer one)
1: Add a few small scoops of glitter to each container.
2: Add Vitamin E oil
3: Add cedarwood essential oil. This oil has many benefits, including uses as an antiseptic, tones skin, and can speed healing wounds. The sedative properties can help promote sleep. When used in aromatherapy, it can relieve headaches, depression and anxiety and relieve coughing.
4: Add candy corn scent to containers. I add about 1.5 tablespoons. Of course, the more you add, the stronger the scent.
Steps 5-7: In your microwave, melt the soap cubes. in 30-second intervals. Stir after each interval until the blocks are entirely liquid. Add 1-2 drops of orange colorant and mix well until you achieve the color you are looking for in your candy corn soap.
7: Spray your soap mold with the rubbing alcohol.
8: Pour the soap mixture into your mold.
9: Spray the top of the mixture with rubbing alcohol.
10: Sprinkle a bit of glitter if desired. This is optional ? Then allow to harden at least 15-20 minutes. You know you can pour the next layer if you blow on the candy corn soap and it doesn’t ripple.
Orange Layer (Layer two)
Repeat steps 1 -4 of white layer
Steps 5-7: Melt in 30-second intervals. Stir after each interval until the blocks are entirely liquid. Add 1-2 drops of orange colorant and mix well until you achieve the color you are looking for in your candy corn soap.
8: Spray your soap mold with the rubbing alcohol.
9: Pour the soap mixture into your mold.
10: Spray the top of mixture with rubbing alcohol. Allow the soap to harden for at least 30-45 minutes. You know you can pour the next layer if you blow on the candy corn soap layer and it doesn’t ripple.
Yellow Layer (Layer three)
Repeat steps 1-4 of
Steps 5-7: Melt in 30-second intervals and stir after each until it is entirely liquid. Add 1-2 drops of yellow colorant and mix well until you achieve the color you desire for your candy corn soap layer.
8: Spray your soap mold with the rubbing alcohol.
9: Pour the soap mixture into your mold.
10: Spray the top of mixture with rubbing alcohol. Allow to harden at least 30-45 minutes. You know you can pour the next layer if you blow on the soap and it doesn’t ripple.
Allow the candy corn soap to set overnight. When you are ready to cut your soap, you can use the tools that are with the rectangle loaf mold or you can use a large knife.
If you do not have the rectangle mold I used, that is fine! You can use any mold you like and get the same layer effect. If so, you may need to adjust the amount of soap you use in steps 1-3, 8-10 and 14-16. The important thing is that you have fun!
