Kids penguin crafts are very popular in our house. One of the kiddos still sleeps with a penguin they were given when they were a baby. This penguin is now so old and dog-eared that I had to make a ‘t-shirt’ for him (yes this stuffy is a male penguin) to preserve his remaining fur.
As a consequence of the enduring love for this little cuddly antarctic critter we have gone through some penguin crafts over the years and I am always on the lookout for more and I thought I’d share some of our favourites with you today.

Light up your day with the penguin light bulb craft
These little cuties are from Lady With the Red Rocker
I have seen similar penguins before, but these take it to the next level with their woolly hats and the personalisation I can see them becoming the kind of Christmas decoration that is carefully handed down through the family.
You will need:
- Lightbulbs
- Paint
- Ribbon
- Fabric off-cuts
Full instructions can be found here
Pop Bottle Penguins
This version of the pop bottle penguin comes from Vila do Artesao.
You will need:
- 2 pop bottles of the same size

- acrylic or craft paint (PVA) in white, black and coloured colours
- glossy acrylic varnish
- primer for pet
- Black marker
- Piece of wool and piece of fabric
They give you detailed instructions here right down to how to make the little pompoms for the hats.
I know there are dozens of creative penguin crafts out there, perhaps you could share yours with us? I would love to see what my creative readers are doing.
I love the idea of using buttons to make such a cute gift. I will have to do this with my kids.
