• 1/2 cup of ground coffee
  • 4 cups of 1-inch cubed angel food cake, pound cake, or lady’s fingers
  • 2 cups of vanilla or coffee ice cream
  • One 3oz dark chocolate bar, shaved with a vegetable peeler
  • Whipping cream


  1. Brew your coffee using 1 1/2 cups of water, then allow to cool completely.
  2. In a large bowl, coat the cake or lady fingers in 2/3 of the coffee until it is well soaked, but not soggy.
  3. Spoon the ice cream into a second bowl and stir until it is soft and spoonable.
  4. In a third bowl whip your cream until it is stiff.
  5. Layer your serving glass or bowl with cake and ice cream.
  6. Drizzle on the remaining coffee.
  7. Top with whipped cream.
  8. Sprinkle with the chocolate shavings.
  9. Serve straight away.
